When you require home care nursing, it’s important to understand what it is and why you need it. Home care nursing is a way to support you at home when you can’t leave your house or when you don’t feel comfortable leaving the house for any reason.
There are a variety of reasons why people require home care nursing, including illness or injury, chronic conditions such as diabetes or arthritis, medical treatments such as chemotherapy or radiation, and mental health issues. Home care nursing can also be provided to help with other conditions in addition to these, such as feeding issues or mobility problems.
When someone requires home care nursing, they may need assistance with activities of daily living (such as bathing and dressing), getting out of bed or chair, eating or drinking, toileting, moving around the home safely and efficiently, managing medications, managing pain and other medical conditions (including medical equipment), providing transportation to medical appointments and therapy sessions or other appointments, communicating with family members or caregivers, taking medications correctly and monitoring blood sugar levels.
Home care nursing is most often provided by a certified nurse assistant (CNA) who has completed an extensive training program that includes classroom instruction and hands-on training in a supervised environment. The CNA has more time to spend on each client to provide the individualized level of care needed. CNA services may be offered through both short
